The Richmond Youth Choral Society, directed by my good friend Heidi Epp will be premiering “Listen to the Music” on Sunday with the VYSO!! Before writing the piece, I asked for suggestions from choir members. So, they asked for a piece that starts slow and then gets faster, is about nature, the rain, the ocean, and about the inspiration of music…
To hear the recording goto: Listen to the music
Here is what I ended up with for the words:
Listen to the music as it’s blow’n through the trees, the rustling leaves sing a song,
listen to the music as the birds sing along, I listen to the music all around me,
and it makes me feel like singing, singing along!
We raise our voices high and join the song.
Listen….
Listen to the music as the rain comes pouring down, waters flow’n through the stream,
the roaring of the rivers as they roll down to the sea, I listen to the music all around me,
and it makes me feels like singing, singing along!
We raise our voices high and join the song.
Listen… Listen… join the song, the song of joy!
Listen to the music in the rising of the seas, waves rush forth to meet the shore,
listen to the music as it’s flow’n through the storm… through the storm,
I listen to the music all around me,
and it makes me feel like singing, singing along!
We raise our voices high and join the song.
Listen… Listen… join the song, the song of joy!
Listen…
